Control box, urgent help req

I've been told these need reprogramming to fit your car, is this true?
Or could I buy a second hand one and simply fit it?

I really need help on this one guys, the garage wanted about 600 notes for it

he was saying i needed a new one, and for it to be programmed, then fitted!

thats about right, im affraid. Not sure on the cost though.


New ones are blank and once programmed to your car, wont work with anything else and cant be re-programmed.

not 600 quid, surely? I'm sure a mate of mine had the same problem and fitted it on the cheap

Ive never had one done to any of my cars so cant really say. Im sure other members can help on that one.

£600 does seem high, but i do know they arnt cheap.

your alternative is to replace all your ecu's with used,

you need matching set of

Engine ECU, BCM, decoder ring, and key chip.

you can't reprogram a used one, but replacing the full setup with used matching is cheaper than a new one from renault.

a friend of mine bought one (new i assume) and fitted it and it worked im sure!!

the actual relay box part that goes under the dash can be replaced on the ph2's as far as i know, there is a coded part to it but that can be swapped over.

I've spoken to my friend, he said they can be refurbished and reprogrammed for around 100 notes at a place not far from me, I'm going for that!

I know a garage that reprograms Renault UCH but we are located a bit far away...lol

They did it to my friends Mk1 Clio II....electric windows wouldn't work, locks, lights....he got one from the scrappy, took it to these guys and they had it working in a few minutes....

any idea how much they charge and the name of the place? It may be the same place my mate reccomended to me, he said google 're-main' but i didn't see anything, anyone know of this place?

The UCH contains an EPROM (Electronically programmable Read Only Memory) that can only be programmed once. Its a small chip that stores the details of the ECU and key.

The companies that refurb them probably just remove the chip and solder a new one on, ready to be programmed by the dealer!

If anybody has an old one i'd be happy to take one apart to have a look.

the company is reman i believe. a mate has had some dealings but wont use again , they didnt have what he wanted or the stuff they have sent him has been wrong or didnt work. always apologised and refunded and paid for postage etc , just have not been good for him. they may well sort you out though. good luck .
do you have the part number of the part you are after ? he might have one he could sell you .
