Control Stalk Adaptor help?

Hi, I was given a Sony BT2900 head unit which I've now installed but indeed an adapter to be ale to use the stalk controls. What I can't work out is go I need an adapter specific to the stalk, the head unit or a combination of the both? Can anyone help please?

give these guys a call, tell them the radio model number and everything and they will tell you the exact stalk you need mate. i hunted endlessly for a correct stalk adapter for my pioneer, turned out one phone call did the job.

unfortunately i sent about 4 different adapters back because they were incompatible. but this site got it right first time.
