conversion by prima??

  clio n reg
hiya guys. i am new to this site and have posted once before.I have a 1.2 prima n reg mk 1 clio. I am really considering a williams conversion and have been quoted 2500 - 3000 for the engine provided and fitted by prima?i was wondering if you could give me some ideas. good deal etc....
also i am 17 so i am also considering leaving it insured as the 1.2 i no this is not recommended which is why i would prefer to ask you guys on your opinions?ideally a street sleeper which i intend to turn into a track car eventually.

any help would be appreciated guys
cheers

I wouldn't risk the insureance thing, If you ever have to claim one look under the bonnet and your fooked basically. Not only will you have to cover your own costs but also the costs of anyone you crash into!

£3000 sounds a bit on teh steep side for a williams conversion to me, but i'm sure some other members will come along and give you mor einfo, you might be better off asking the same question over at www.williamsclio.co.uk as there have a larger Mk1 Clio owner base!

Insurance would kill you completely @ 17. I know it isn't what you wanna hear but def worth leaving it couple years till maybe 19 so you have 2 years NCB and 2 years driving!

Problem is a williams engine looks nothing like a 1.2 8v so they would spot it straight away if you had a crash... I had a crash 2 years ago cost the insurance over 20K and all I did was hit a wall no1 else, imagine if my insurance had been invalidated?

If you really wanna do it, you are much better off buying a 1.8 16v to be honest, insurance isnt as steep as a williams, group 12/13 i think? And you would get a mint one for around £2k!

And 3grand is a rip off by the way lol
