drivin 2work this morn, doin 25 in traffic, massive bange n a bloody crack!autoglass coming to do it thurs at work. £75. well pist! :dapprove:

Are there any implications to having the windscreen replaced?

Aren't the origionals factory sealed? So are replacements weaker? Do they look the same, as in markings etc? Are there problems with the light sensors and gel packs? Are they made by Renault and just fitted by the glass companies, or are they cheap imintation screens?

What are the gel packs ? :S

Gel packs are what makes the auto wipers work. I know that sometimes the window repair people use non-sport windscreens and often end up with the small defelctor part in the middle of the screen.

So need to specify it's a sport when telling the insurance company then? Even though they should have that info!!

Would the fitters get funny if I inspected the screen before they fitted it and if it had that stupid wind deflector told them I didn't want it? And that I would sit there watching them do it.

Ah right.

I have managed to pick up a stone and wipe it across the screen, so I was thinking about getting one on insurance, but I want one identical to what's on there, and not to have bits missing or falling off, so this is why I haven't had it done yet.

If they order it from Renault, and then fit that, it should be ok hopefully.

When i had my new windscreen done by autoglass they made me check it over before they installed it an i was busy doin random electrics an other jobs in the car while they were fitting it, they didnt mind me sitting there watchn they were just chattin away. One of the lads even sold me his exhaust off his clio lol.
