What have i done wrong?

Cheers

The Surface is not clean your spraying onto, Try flatting it back then wiping it off with some panel wipes before painting.

Panel Wipes? I'm assuming alcohol based ones?... could i just use a cloth and put some vodka onto it? lol would that work?

the cracking occurs if you havent keyed the surface as the primer cannot stick to it mate, you need to take some fine sand paper (800 grit) and rub up the surface. by putting tiny scratches in it the primer can bond to it, they will then disappear when applying a second coat, apply three coats of primer overall and then lightly sand with 1200 grit before applying paint

i think the area is TOO smoothe, try roughing it up a bit more with some lower grade wet & dry, also could be spraying too close, putting it on too wet / thick. can not shaked well, just guessing now lol

Get some pics up, might help. I'd go for surface contamination or sprayed on too thick tbh......

rough the surface up, and make sure the primer is at room temp and well shaken. Continue to shake the can while spraying.
