Crank/TDC sensor? Same thing?

Rob

Basically about a year ago my car started occasionally cutting out when coming to a stop and also just not starting when it feels like it... took it to a garage, (who i know quite well) and he cleaned something which he called the "crank sensor" and it was totally fine.

I've heard these symptoms on here be associated with the TDC sensor so i was wondering

a) are they the same thing? I.e just differnet use of names from people who know renaults very well?

b) Could someone please supply me with a picture of where it is?? (on a mk2 ph1 1.2 8v?) or try and help me find it??

The guy who did it last time is currently closing down and very busy trying to get stuff done and said it is something i could do myself but i just don't know where it is in the engine bay. He said something about it being near the bell housing..

All help appreciated. Thanks in advance

yep same thing.

its bolted to the bolt of the box, (has two bolts) its like a half moon shaped sensor.

Same thing, it's hard to find at first but when you know where it is it's okay. About 40 quid from Renault with the wiring kit that goes with it.
