Crash Help!

  Clio DCI
Just bought a 2002 Clio DCI 80bhp (FDSH) with a few minor problems...

Airbag and service light's are on due to a side bump previously, and the passenger seat airbag was deployed at some point. The car hasnt been accident repaired, infact it hasnt been repaired at all, as there is a small scrape/dent on the passenger side (doesnt look like much). Regardless, the seat has since been resewn and doesnt look bad at all. I want to know if there is any way in which i can get the lights off the dash turned off, without having to replace the seat... Is there anyway i can just disconnect that seat from the airbag system, or fool the system into believing that the seat is ok, as i still have other airbags working.
Also the seatbelt plug tensioner has also been activated, so it has been pulled tought, is there anyway i can reverse the motor to get it untight, or is it a replacement job? Or could it possibly get through MOT as it is, as i can still plug/unplug the belt into it fine.

Also i was planning to replace the factory steering wheel with an aftermarket hub/wheel without airbag, so is it worth doing this before resetting the lights via renault if thats the only option.

Also i need to replace a rear passenger side seatbelt as its jammed, whats the earliest model of clio i can nick a seatbelt out of that will fit the same mounts as my 2002 5door?

last but not least, i seem to have a leaky sunroof, ive looked into removing the sunroof out, which doesn't look that complicated, is it best to renew the rubber, or to refit the exsisting rubber along with some nasty black silicone?

I knew about these problems before buying the car, but it was a bargain, and i knew these problems would need to be looked at as soon as possible.

take the clocks out and put a bit of tape over the light mask

otherwise it'll cst you a fair few quid

im pretty sure if your gonna replace the steering wheel, the airbag light will come one anyway, so that will either be a solder jobbie or just pop out the bulb from inside the dials

The rear seatbelts you can take from any mk2 Clio thing is though they made them in quite a few different shades. I'd spend the money and get it fixed I managed to get a seat for £30 with pretensioner. Back seatbelts are harder to come by but got one for £15. The computer is the most expensive part really.
The only thing that it will fail an mot for is the back seatbelt not working right.

lol the clock & tape idea was one i was thinking about doing to be honest lol, im planning to keep the car a good few years, unless it breaks down or falls apart lol.

Can the pre tensioners be repaired, or do they only work once, and when activated they need to be replaced, as this is both at the front and rear on that side of the car.

If you were gonna do it like that you'd need to keep the car until it died and was scrapped IMO

Could raid a breakers for a new sunroof seal, most hold pretty well so shouldn't be an issue.

Yea what i was planning to do with regards to the clock, if i was to sell on ud remove the tape to cover my own backside etc, but thats going to be a long, long way off!

Check the sunroof most liky the seal "just" needs changing.

The Clio rear belts there two types you need to know which your is if its got the sensor wiring them you need one with sensor wiring if its not then you can use either type.

Do a search reversing the activation of the seat belt has been covered before but I don't recomend it under any circumstances.

As regards the airbags you've two choices either as said just remove the bulb or fix the setup you can get the airbags crash detaisl removed from the computer for £60 from ebay places and then stick resisters in the wirting looms details here of how much for each one. Or if you'd have searched the answer would have all been there for you to read.

Right ive sorted the sunroof, (although it hasnt rained yet lol), Dash lights, both service and airbag.... yay

Right i have removed the rear passenger side seatbelt, and it appears to be the type with the motor and wires attatched.

What belt can i use to replace? as in can i use a earlier model rear belt without the electronic cr*p on it as im not too fussed about the lights on the dash etc for obvious reasons lol.

If i can get away with any mk2 seatbelt, could you let me know, or do i have to fork out for the exact same one from renault as i didnt plan on refitting the wiring anyway... i prefer the oldschool type seatbelts without all this extra safety stuff on.

Can you give me your wise opinions on what seatbelt i can/cant fit... and also if anyone has one sat about then let me know, have paypal/cash waiting!! Cheers!!

You can get away with it personaly I'd fix the problem ie clear the fault codes form the airbag computer etc and refix the seatbelt lights.

yea i would if i could afford it at the min, im just trying to get it through the MOT until i can afford to sort it properly. So any mk2 rear belt will fit into a 2002 dci? Appreciate your help Edde

You need a newer one froma Mk2 car.

Why not just take the rear seats and belt out? Cannot ail MOT if the seats and belts arn't there.
