Cross flow heads? Explain please

  Mk2 Golf GTI
I've heard a lot of talk about cross flow heads recently but don't really know what the difference is between these and non x-flow.

Can someone explain please?

What are the advantages of cross-flow and what gains would i see by fitting one of these heads in place of mine?

I've found a bit of info that suggests they have the inlet and exhaust manifolds on opposite sides, but surely there's more to it.

Cheers

crossflow is the name given to the design you have pointed out....inlet and outlet on opposing sides. increases the overall flow ability of the head.

yours will be cross-flow mate, dont worry about it!

I've got a mk2 Golf GTI 8v now mate!

I've heard there are some cross flow heads knocking about from US spec Golfs and Jettas but they're really hard to get hold of in this country
