crown and pinion impact on drivability

  Clio 3 Gordini
hello,
i'm building my clio 3 RS gordini to be fun and efficient at Autocross.
i've looked at the gripper 5.0 ratio crown and pinion but it is very expensive.
so i'm going most probably for a 5.08 ratio made by Sj-3P from France ( anyone heard of him over here? )

my question goes for the ones that daily drive shorter final drives....
what is the impact on sound , crackling , smoothness of the car after installing a crown and pinion ?
will the car remain easy to drive? or will it create vibrations everywhere?

thanks for your help

i've got a gripper cw&p that's done minimal mileage for sale soon.
I would be interested in the diff and cwp if and when you are selling.

Shorter final drive means a lower top speed and also less range between the gears. By lowering the ratios the car becomes quicker on the track and uses the power better. On the road the need to change gears more regularly becomes tedious. The car wont become noisier per say but because you will always be at higher revs it will be noisier and do less mpg. Smoothness could be impacted as normal on/off throttle input will make it jerkier.
It is really the age old problem. Cars were designed too run on roads and they do it exceptionally well. Tinker with anything and it impacts on the driveability of the car. Hope this helps
