cruise control buttons

has anybody taken apart a set of 1*2 steering wheel buttons?
I'm looking at retro fitting cruise to my 172 but I'm also hoping to fit a Momo or Sabelt wheel at somepoint in the future.
I was hoping I could use the standard cruise button loom, but change the buttons to suit an aftermarket wheel.

(you might remember my thread on adding extra buttons to an aftermarket wheel)

I thought I'd read somewhere that the buttons ran on the same wires but at different resistances?

Yeah you're right about the resistances. They all connect into the same plug but just give different values when pressed. I did have a note of the resistance readings somewhere although I can't guarantee I'll be able to find them lol.
