Cruise Control not working, running out of ideas...

Still not got my cruise working.

I have changed both pedal switch's, I have thought about the airbag ring but surely this would stop the horn working too?

Also, my car is going in at the end of the week to have a new ABS sensor fitted since my ABS/Traction lights are on, could this affect the CC?

Any other idea's of what the problem could be?

Has the car ever been remapped?

Doubt it very much, lad i bought it off only kept it for 9 months, and then sold it due to having a baby. The original owner i doubt remapped it since i have all its history and its not shown.

Although i dont have the cold idle problems like many others, would this be due to a remap?

Why would a map affect the CC?

Maps loaded onto the cars don't always retain all the OE features.
Cruise is one feature that can be lost when a new map is loaded on.

Remapping will smooth the lumpy idle, but this wouldn't be conclusive by itself.

What happens when you press the CC dash switch?

i get the cruise or limiter light on the dash. But none of the buttons on the wheel work. The dash just shows ---- where the speed would be.

Sounds likely then as that's the symptoms I've had since remapping mine.

Spoke to FastChip about the issue and he offered no advice really.

Well i'm hopefully going to the RS tuning RR meet next weekend, so if it produces over 180 i guess its safe to say its been mapped. They might be able to offer advice about it.

Is there any way to tell if its remapped for sure?

Dont really want it to be, insurance wont like it one bit

Well I could tell you using my RS Tuner but that would cost you £50~ for a vehicle licence. :dapprove:

Would Renault be able to tell, although it costs £75 to go on their computer

I presume for the £50 i would also be able to apply a map too (must think of the insurance )

Yeah for the £50~ you could put a standard map on or one from Henk @ FastChip.

Well i have put a fastchip map on now.

And the cruise wouldn't even light up at first. Then after an engine switch off - switch on and it started to light up again. But it still doesn't work.

I did the reprogram with the CC in the off position too.

I presume that my car had previously been mapped since it had entries in the programming history, this is before i put a fast chip map on:

I am glad i got the rstuner though, power seems to come much earlier in the revs and seems much smoother in delivery across the rev range.

Finally, would renault be able to tell me why my c/c isn't working from their computer?

Might seem daft but could it not be a loose connection on the steering wheel controls? Seems strange that it all lights up and is just waiting for a speed to inputted. Mine shows exactly what yours shows until i press a steering wheel button.

Also you tried the dianostics on the rstuner to seem if anything is flagging up that could cause the CC to not work?

Bit of an update

Today out of the blue it started working, presumed it was because I had changed the battery it must have reset the ECU or something when it was down powered.

But now it isnt working at all, getting really confusing. When it was working the pedal switchs both worked as did all the buttons. I tested both CC and speed limiter too.

So now I dont know what it is?

sometimes mine decides not to work. the cruise is set on the dash but when i try and use the steering wheel switch it doesnt do anything!

I usuallly leave it for 10 mins and/or turn the car off. that seems to sort it out.

I had a new CC Dash button put on a few months back because the loast one wouldnt stick into cruise position!
