cruise control (switch?)

Good morning/afternoon/evening

I have a problem with the cruise control on my 182 (04).
After pushing the the cruise control button/switch (green light) and changing the speed on steering wheel the cruise control then turns itsself off (without touching any pedals/switchs etc). If I hold the button in the on posistion the cruise control works but I have to hold the switch!!

Anyone else had this problem? How did you sort it? Price?

Loose brake pedal switch, fairly common. Not sure on cost, mine was a warranty job.

if the switch doesn't stay on then you need to replace the just the switch.

I had the same problem, the part number is - 80 00 060 039
cost was about £15+vat

Only take 2 mins to change aswell. the panel just pops out and then so does the switch.

Chay, mine has exactly the same problem, its also an 04 just out of warranty  .

The cruise switch just about stays in place, but flick it the other way to speed limiter and it flicks off. I rang SMC Renault (my regions main dealer) and they quoted £17.80 inc VAT for the switch, and 0.3 hours labour at £28 inc VAT - however the service guy on the phone started getting all excited saying that he GUARANTEED it would take longer to fix as the dash can be a bugger (he would say that).

Put aside £100 to be on the safe side. But yes, its a real pain.

I've also noticed by cruise only goes up in increments of 2mph at some points, rather than 1mph like it used to. I cant set it at 70 - only 69 or 71!! :S

they are definitely taking the piss... thankfully i havent had it fitted yet, as this was a phone quote, but the minute a bloke tries to rob me on the phone, i tend to do a runner!! The bloke on the phone even told me the ENTIRE dash needed to come out!! What a plum. Main dealer as well!

quick question ... how come you can switch the cruise control switch both ways... i.e one way the green light comes on and the other the orange light comes on.... both work as normal!!?

The orange light is the speed limiter, the green is cruise control (or is it the other wayround...but you get the idea!)

Green Light is cruise - the car stays at a set speed but can go faster if you want it to.

Orange light is speed limiter - you can set a speed that the car won't travel over: if you set it to 40mph, you can drive normally until the car gets to 40mph but then it won't travel any faster even if your foot is welded to the floor.

iirc, when in 'limiter mode' if you put your foot down for a certain amount of time (seconds), it switches the limiter off.

I took the switch out today and noticed that the metal contacts where pushed in (just from use over the years). I just bent them out a wee bit and it works fine problem all sorted!!

I got a problem with my cruise control. Worked mint eysterday and this morning only the speed limiter works. All the buttons seems fine since i can change speed and turn on and of while in speed limiter mode. but i just cant "enter" any digits while in cruise control mode. The green light turns on and everytning so it doesnt seem to be a switch problem.

Help!!
