(Title may be misleading ;) )

This may have been done before or it may just go catastrophically wrong BUT as I know there are a few on here who do Car detailing/correction on the side I was wondering if we could get a list going with your usernames and locations etc.

The reason for this is people like me who may enjoy car detailing but don't have a DA/Rotary can see if local members are willing to correct their paintwork etc.

Pics of your work etc. will always be helpful.

Not exactly fair considering people on here pay to advertise their detailing business?

Hmm, hear what you're saying, Andy, but also have to agree with Kev... I think it'd be unfair to have a hobbyist list (much like the VAGCOM list on AudiSport) when Detail Me et all pay...

You'd be better off whacking a thread up asking for a hand. I tried a thread like this a while back but for traders (joiners, plumbers etc) and everyone thought it'd be unfair on the specialist traders on here who pay to advertise, didnt go down well lol

I just don't know if anyone on here local to me.

Anyone aware of anyone in the East Anglia area? Closer to the East coast the better.

I'd rather go to a member or a detailer that comes with recommendations off this site than just any company I find on Google.

Not too much of an issue it was more of just an idea which was riddled with flaws.

Not fair on those that actually earn a living from it.

I'd disagree with that. I cook my own food and get others round. That's not taking earnings away from those that do it for a living ;)

But seriously, Andy, if you need someone to help, a correct thread title would work. Or look on DW and make fwends.

But surely it is given the alternative is eating out at a restaurant if you want a social gathering around food?
Seems a weird example, lol.

Google for finding which CS members near to him will help with detailing?

Im not quite sure what search term you would use TBH!

Why does it need to be a CS member, google to find local detailers I meant.

Perhaps detailing suffolk? Lol!

As JD said try DW I did to a search and it did find a thread on DW although it didn't really have any useful answers in the thread.

Lol calm down chaps only trying to give the lad more suggestions jeez.

"I want to find something"

"try google"

Good job you were here in case he hasnt heard of google yet, its a pretty unknown website so he probably hadnt. lol

Not at all. I pay for their skills in the chosen profession over the cost of the ingredients/gas/leccy etc. My cooking is not as good as theirs (for the most part). Therefore amateur vs professional...

Andy wants someone to help him with his car... that's not taking away from a professional detailer.

You asked for help when tuning your Nova. Is that taking away the earnings of the local mechanic whose job it would be?

Never had any help with the tuning other than the mrs driving it while I map it, lol, and sod trusting a local mechanic to map anything like that, LOL.

But to use it as an example, then in terms of stuff like a mate of mine made me a charge cooler for it, yes that did take business away from elsewhere as if he hadnt then I would have had to pay for one.

"Got much on between xmas and new year Rich?

Im still touting to try and find labour to help turn all the bits back into a car again

"

;)

Again, professional who should do a high quality job vs amateur. That's not competition as it's a foregone decision by the party in need of whatever services are required.

Genuinely no idea what you are on about JD.

I dont see how that quote is related at all to your comment about tuning of my car?

Unless tuning means something different to you and me?

Perhaps it was my mis-use of tuning. Building. Better? Although technically, the generic term "tuning" means modifying your car. Which is what you had help doing. So, yeah.

Oh right, yeah for me I would say "building" there, as I dont use the term tuning when talking about a whole car normally, but can see why others might. Like for example "tuning the suspension" etc I guess is perfectly valid although not something I would generally say myself.

But in the context of what you quoted, it was literally just like I said in the quote, some help with labour of putting all the bits back together to save me time doing it on my own so nothing to do with modifying or tuning really, as I'd already done all the tuning required at that stage, me and the other lads from OPD are always helping each other out with stuff, some of which does prevent people needing to spend money (like last week I mapped one of the lads cars for him before he ran at Ten Of the Best, something that he would have otherwise had to paid for), and some of which is just a social or timesaving thing helping someone do something they could do on their own anyway, like the example you quoted.

I have never known a forum to ever go off-topic as much as CS does! On topic, post a topic and see if anyones close :)

Forgive me for asking, but what detailers advertise on this forum? I don't recall seeing any.

There used to be a detailer from Leeds too who had a section last year. He never utilised it properly though which is a shame.

As said, a list won't happen due to taking work away from traders/potential traders.
