How do you guys do against them?

I had a blat with one this evening on the way to Ice Hockey and I was murdering it. CTRs put up a much better effort than what I got from the Clio.

Some of them give us a bit of a slating! The 172/182 should be pitted against the Fiesta ST or the C2 VTR!?

Fair enough I know from experience that a CTR will pull away on a straight, but they arent as bad as those guys are making them out to be!

Ill be watching that thread closely!!

The CTR is AS fast in a straight line, and faster over the tonne. Period. Thats where it ends. Put it into any corner of any kind and the only sense you have to rely on is your sight - looking at the road as you cant feel it - you dont know where the wheels are pointing, how much grip they have - when they will lose it...you cant feel ANYTHING though the wheel rim.

The CTR is a better built and probably far more reliable machine, but a drivers car it isnt.

It was, in Autocar, and it smoked them both with ease. Actually it also smoked everything else in the test - including the Scooby WRX (standard) and the new Golf GTi.

NOW - When AC were questioned on their own forum as to why the CTR wasnt included in the test, they explained that the CTR wasnt included because it had already been layed to rest by the GTi in a previous article.

Our CTR owning friends might like to do the math before spouting inaccurate sh*te about the 182/Cup

The poster of the topic on the TypeR forums drives a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo iirc, not a Civic...

Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo wouldnt murder a 182 even in a straight drag race. To murder a car you have to be more than a couple of tenths quicker to 60 and more than a couple of bhp per tonne up. Those sorts of differences are so small as to be negligable, comes down to the driver at that point but even then you are only talking a car length.

While steering feedback isnt as good on the Civic as the Clio, turn-in is crisper and sheer grip allow you a good 15% higher cornering speed (same corner in both a 172 and my CTR). Plus theres no torque steer like there is in the Clio.

Just out of interest - what exactly do you consider a "drivers car" if the CTR isnt ?

If you read the post he goes on to say the Clio driver was 3 up at the time, so not really a suprising result even if both drivers were really trying and Manxs car is standard...

Compared to a 172 maybe, a 182 with Cup packs is a different kettle of fish I assure you.....
