Cup gearbox Oddness

  Cup 172
Dont know if anyone can help but...

When I get the cup out of the garage I have to go forward a couple of yards, then select reverse and go back. On a morning it goes into first fine, but when I take it out of first and into reverse, it takes a couple (never more than 2) goes to select the gear...

Strangely, if i put it straight into reverse without going into first it goes in fine...

Any ideas, or should I just put up with it???

Its a 2002 with 38k on the clock...

try going from first, put the clutch in, release it from first, let clutch out, then press clutch in and put it in reverse normally works

Ive found the problem... Decided to get underneath at the weekend and have a look at the oil. It was good timing as my visit to the underside coincided with the cars decision to dump all its gearbox oil...

New seals required @ 98 quid...

Lucky you spotted it, if it had dumped it while driving you probably would be looking at a new box!

It was just luck that I decided to have a look... Drove it round to the garage yesterday and just abandoned it there... Seemed to be changing okay, so I think Im a lucky boy...
