Curbed!

Some woman nearly ran me right off the road last night, i was on a dual road and she was in the outside lane and didnt indicate so Iv had to slam the brakes on and turn left which ended up in my left front alloy being curbed. Its quiet bad to be honest, im gutted. Im guessing my best option is not to go through my insurers as my excess is £250..? Does anyone know how much roughly it is to get an alloy refurb? And I know I could do it myself but dont really have much time lol. Cheers guys n girls

depends how bad it is. Refurb for one wheel will be from about £50-100 depending on where you go

I would say its quiet bad mate, its got like 3 scratches on it about 2" by 3" long. Do you think its worth doing it myself then?

It'll be cheaper to get a alloy refurbed than to loose any no claims and pay the £250 excess..

If it's a standard 172 wheel why not ask on the parts wanted forum or check ebay, even a breakers yard. Might be able to find a mint one?

Check out 'the wheel specialist'. They are based in Birmingham and look pretty good. Website seems pretty professional and they will offer a discount at the moment, they did for me if I choose to take them up.

Renault norwich had a rogue new one of those wheels in stock cos they ordered it wrong. Might be able to get it cheap if you wanted a new one!

Very difficult to do that though, it's just human reaction to swerve when something comes in to your path.

Doing a wheel is not good but rather that than the whole car regardless of whether the other persons insurance pays. Once the panels are trashed the car will never be the same again. Wheels are easily sorted, whereas a respray job will never exactly match the old paint work regardless of how good the job is. Plus... You probably have to drive round courtesy micra or something whilst it is fixed up.
I would settled for the wheel!!

Yup, its just the way people react. Garuntee 99.9% of people would have done the same. If it wasn't the wheel, it would have been most likely the whole drivers side damaged, so im glad I did curb it in the end. Very true, jat cant been seen in a micra, I have a rep to keep up! lol

Will check the website now, and I will ring Renault Norwich and ask how much they want for it.

Brilliant. If you go with the wheel specialist let me know how you get on. I have a standard 182 and want get all four wheels done in either black or anthricite. Btw, did you ask them if they could give you a bit of a discount?

I didnt mate, theres a form on their website, I just filled that out and they sent me a quote back to my email within like 2minutes. Im sure if you gave them a bell and said we have 5 alloys that need furbing they could sort something out?

My bad... it was £59 for a full refurb, £69 for the balancing, strip, and refit and the refurb. Which is what you would need
