Cutting out when cold

Hi basically when i first start the car in a morning and try and reverse of my drive it will normally cut out i have to rev the car alot to stop this from happening , the car just feels very hesitant but the problems go away when warm, its a 1.4 mk3 if any one has any ideas thanks

maybe idle control valve mate mine was cutting out when cold because revs were to low hence idle control valve hope this helps cheers phil

Sorry i have just seen that mk3s dont have idle control valves apparently

is it a k4j engine then? if so the only common faults are pencil coils,spark plugs corroded or maybe an injector

Yes mate it is , spark plugs have being changed not long back, are there any other symptoms of a faulty injector? As its a pain to start when warm but runs ok when started

ud probably notice a misfire when warm as well if it was an injector to be honest.....so its just poor starting ur getting? runs ok once started?

check the coil pencils mate.. mine was just as you describe.. I got a set of 4 coil pencils from u pull it for £12 including VAT.. hope that helps

Yes runs ok when started but does have a slight misfire/hesitation higher in the revs when giving it some hammer also was it £12 each as i think last time i visited halfrauds they wanted something like £90 for a pair lol

Pencil coils are extremely common,but ur obd light would have came on by now if it was a coil.

I went here mate http://u-pull-it.co.uk/home.html, I had to take them off my self (2mins) £12 for 4 .. I had no light on my dash an mine where fooked (black n burnt)

P.s mines a 1.4 16v and I took the coil pencils off a 1.6 renault scenic.. some laguna coil pencils are also the same

For £12 I dont mind if they only last a few months mate lol they have loads Ill just go back for more if need be

The engine light does come on every now and again but there is no specific pattern so didnt think anything of it do you think they could be related ?, and thanks for link il have a look .

Not sure if it could be related m8 sorry, but £12 is nothing even if it turns out that its not the coil pencils at least u have a spare set as they are a common fault
If its not the coil, chances are its injectors as Fraz said

Ive looked at the site and the nearest site is york which is still to far bidding on some on ebay so going to try them cheers mate
