Have you checked your Recycle bin?

If not restore them from your backup which of course you have because it would be crazy not too ;)

Yeah, checked the recycle bin - nothing in there.

Whats also more strange, is that i backed them all up to the work network as well - not there either.

Waiting for IT to get in so we can see if they were saved in a daily backup, etc, but wanted to see if there any any 'hidden' files on my laptop where such things get stored ...

I did this once, about 2 years ago. Since then, I back up everything.

I did get most of the pictures back I'd deleted (and emptied recycle bin), using a recovery software.

AFAIK, nothing is ever deleted, until you overwrite it. Like a VCR tape (is my understanding).

If you have only just deleted them, then you can try something like Recuva on your PC. Every change you make in the meantime will run the risk of loosing the photos though.

If you are on windows 7 with system restore enabled, then you might have the "previous versions" enabled. Right click the folder they were in and select "properties'.

Did you do a thread?

With pics....oh wait....

Seriously its a fcuking mare, I have mine on Apple HD, back up drive, FlickR, Photobucket and one of my pc's. Overkill maybe.

Do a thread with some pics when you get them sorted.

a lad did this at work and came to us, we said we don't do foreigners but i suggested as we have a policeman on site why dont you bring your hard drive in and tell him there is some dodgey child p**n on there and they might want to recover any info thats on it.

apparently that would be wasting government resources though :(

i know that doesnt help sorry :D

You can recover your 4GB of photos deleted from your laptop with the help of a data recovery software, i will ask you to use "Kernel for FAT and NTFS" laptop recovery software for the same recovery of any type of files and data from laptop. It previews lost files and data in scanning of the hard drive of your laptop in Red color and then you can save all files at once or some selective files to your location.

I did this on my Mac.

It was a paid job for a council authority invloving both the local police and fire chief.

I shat myself.

Downloaded a program on my mac called Rescue Pro and had them all back in about 6 hours. Plus loads of other stuff i forgot ever existed.

Saved my bloody life - and given the nature of the job potentially my laptop being siezed and examined.

true story.
