hard as fook if you have never done one, if you need to ask this question, i suggest to take it to a garage, cost?? £500 - 1000 labour, or learn to do it and set yourself for 10 days solid study...

I done my gearbox, took me a weekend.. i had all the bits and another car to go buy tools to help me along the way!

It's a big job, the haynes manual i used gave a pretty good description but was very vaigue when it came to my actual engine.

However i'm mechanical minded, couldn't fathom why the f**k reno design the car so you have to take a driveshaft out to change a starter motor!! i was like wtf...

im fairly practical and can follow instructions like an art. lol

Gearbox - is this a case of taking the lower balljoint and trackrod end out, undo the CV boot, dislodge the driveshaft from both end, support engine with jack or something similar, unbolt the gearbox mount and all fixing bolts and drop it out?

is this corect or am i thinking it too simple?

also does it have to be lined up in a certain way?

could the syncro or selector cause the no gear selection apart from 5th?

i'd leave the belt to a pro.

I'd drop subrame them lower the engine and drop the gearbox like that.
However if you want to try the belt take the subframe off and drop the whole engine and lift the car over the engie and you'll find how to do the belt easier.
