......ring ring.................ring ring................:banghead:
Yep, a good five hours since we got back from a blast over to Bakewell and my ears are still buzzing. It's the first chance I've had this week to be a co-pilot in the Vee since its Quicksilver back-box transplant, last Saturday.
From the outside, it's quite loud (especially so when the engine's cold) - but it has a much nicer, raspy bark to the exhaust note now. It also pops away very easily on the over-run and sounds great on the downshift, if you're in a car behind.
However, put yourself inside and the story is a bit different. My Punto GTT had a straight through system, but I had to match a specific gear to a range of RPM to make the noise a bit too much. This thing makes too much noise a good half of the time! 40mph in 4th gear is truly uncomfortable - the drone noise is constantly ringing in your ears. 85mph appears to be a nice quiet 'zone' in 6th however.....
:nono:
As much as I sat there wincing from the racket, the other half of the sounds generated, made it worth the audible battering that my ears received.
The over-run from inside the car is truly great to listen and Jain actually took it to the rev-limiter for the first time while joining a dual-carriageway. Now that, was 3.0litres of acoustic p**n! :approve:
