Decat - what's needed to fit?

Hi just received my decat, what's needed to fit it as i might give it a go my self?

EG gaskets etc.

you will probably need a manifold to cat fitting kit, which includes the gasket for the front and a seperate rear gasket, cost about 15 quid in total from renault

Unless you have access to a ramp and a trusty friend to hand I'd pay the £30 or whatever and get an exhaust place to fit it - JD

Yes thats all you need matey...


I would just use silicone to seal both ends, Job done!

yeh, Silicon or firegum type stuff on the meeting faces will be fine, didn't even put the gasket on one end as it was mangled and I didn't have a new one.

Just been out and had a quick look and crap! How the heck are you supposed to get to the manifold to cat bolts with a socket/spanner? Theres no room and it's tucked in above the subframe!

The other bolts look easy but they looked corroded!

You need one person to go up with the ramp and reach over the engine from to get a spanner on the bolts so the person underneath can undo them defo a 2 man job thou
use high temp silicon on the meeting faces dont use exhaust paste as its s**t

It didn't look like a spanner could git in from the top either, looks bad and then it started to rain lol.

Is universal Blue ok for the joining faces?

haha... you need the hands of a 5yr old and arms of a basket ball player to get the bolts!

Any kind of silicone is fine mate as soon the exhaust gets hot it will seal up

Bayliss got my 172 cat off but it was a right b**ch, you can get the spanner on one of the nuts from under the car - we just used leverage for the other.

Paste also did the trick
