Deciding wither to buy another 172

Not been on here in ages[emoji51] but since I am on the hunt for yet AGAIN another Clio probs my 8th now lol thought I would ask you a for help on this one.

So lad up north has this 172 ph1 for sale that I am kind of interested in but it won’t start it turns over but won’t fire up plus it has a sunroof did these come with sunroofs personally I haven’t ever seen one anyway here is some pics let me know what use think.

I'd never buy another car with a sunroof, solving water ingress in my 172 was enough of a challenge without one!

Well that’s what I was thinking I am so close to buying it as it’s only done 86k miles but it still is a nine runner

The early Ph1’s May have had sunroofs, I don’t know!

One of the tell tale signs of a ph2 1*2 rep is usually a sunroof

I'm 99% sure they didn't get offered with sunroofs?

100% didn’t have a sunroof. And it wasn’t an option either. (It was on the mk3)!

*edit, just seen the pics and that’s an aftermarket sunroof.

Nope a 1.8 16v, couldn't have let more water in if it had tried

I've seen it about a few times on here

It's definitely a PH1 172, but a ruined one at that

Pretty poor fit where the sunroof trim overlaps the interior light housing too

It's an after market sunroof

It's had a hard life. It suffered a cambelt snap when it was only 2 years old and Renault rebuilt it, and was always down on power.

My mate owned it when it was almost new

It was thought at one point it was an import from a market where a sunroof was offered, but the pics confirmed its aftermarket.
