Deeply disappointed

lol, you think 12 warrenty repairs in a year are bad? Try spending almost £20k over 4 years on repairs!

My Williams was uber unreliable, it fucked me over MANY times, but I loved it all the same. The 172 has been a breath of fresh air though. Highly modified and never missed a beat in the 20k I've done so far... cant fault it at all really.

our 2002 expression has been ok we have/still have random abs an air bag light which most were done under warrenty an the worse thing we had to replace was the airbag

my 05 dynamique nothing went wrong may have been a bit juicy though

my 57 dci dynamique is a little cracker but ive only had it 2months :D

Yeah my avatar is me coming of on the ring

My car in fairness has only phyisically stopped once in 65k, all the other faults are just stuff being shite.

I'm still on my first Clio, and after three years I've not had any major problems (touch wood). I did have to have my lamda sensor replaced a two years back, but that was done under warrenty, so all good. Most of the problems I have had are wear & tare type things (brakes, wheels etc), and provided you get it done by a reputible garage, it tends to be good.

well i must say every clio ive ever owned (93 mk1 1.2, 2000 1.4S, ph1 172) has never had any major problems (touch wood)

but ive been told by a lot of machanics that if ur going for a clio to aviod nefin from 2002 - 2004 bcuz ther riddled wit lots of faults n problems

shouldn't buy 2nd hand cars

That's easy to say if you are either

  • rich
or

  • single, living with parents, and therefore can afford a new car.
When I lived at home and had a reasonably paid job, I too could afford new and had a brand new 1.2 Dynamique and then a brand new 172 Cup.

Both my 172 and 182 were fine, apart from a broken washer bottle on the 172 and a crank sensor on the 182

Had 2 172's, sister has had 2 1.2's and between us we've probably had about 3 problems in all. (my 2 172s were/are driven EXTREMELY hard)

None of which have ever resulted in a breakdown! so tbh, can't complain one little bit.

Sounds to me like JP and timberlake has bought 4 dud cars in the past.

tbh, you get lemons... Renault reliability is not the best, no getting around it, but you get what you pay for... that said, ive had a variety of experiences, for me the experiences have been better without a renault dealer to use having no warrenty.

My Mk1 172 which was 7years old when i got it has been spot on. My mk2 172 which i had from virtually new was a right pain in the arse as was my my meggy 225.

When purchasing second hand, tis all about picking a good one, not as simple as just to open up the service book and see a set of reno stamps.
