Defrag sky+ box

Does anyone know if it's possible to carry out a defrag of the HD in a Sky+ box? Was asked by my brother in law as it's starting to get a bit flakey.

You could remove the drive and do it.

But i think the only way on the box is to format.

I'm not sure if the removing the drive and doing it in Windows would work as the Sky+ boxes use a unique file system if I remember right. Windows will probably show the whole thing as unallocated space as it probably won't understand the file system.

I've got Norton Superduper Sky+ Optimiser V5.2 installed on mine, came free with Bareback XII.

Question is why on earth do you think that defragging the drive is going to make a difference, and how do you define "flakey" on a Sky+ box, it either works or it doesn't, if it doesn't then you call Sky.

I didn't call it flakey thats how it was described to me by my brother inlaw, he doesn't want to loose everything on the HD yet but if thats the only way to do it...

The July 2004 software upgrade (to Sky+ version 1.28.d), saw the addition of a hidden feature to allow the (advanced) user to perform a tidy on the Sky+ hard disk. Many users have found that this has recovered valuable disk space.
If you want to give it a try, you need to go into the Installer menu (see above, and select the new "Sky+ Planner rebuild" option). [/FONT]
