i suspected the trophy had the lowest being a limited run of 525 there the last and best and certainly the most sort after clio yet however the williams does'nt seem to be holding its value nowadays you can pick em up cheap a good one is easily obtainable for 3k i certainly would'nt give more than 4k for one unless it were no1 or extremely low milege i dont see them as an investment now

Bearing in mind the Willys are like 10 years old i would say they have held their price really well .Imo i don't even think that the trophys will hold their price that well , after all its a French tin box aimed at a limited market , so i don't think any of the Clios ,whether it be Trophys ,V6's 182/ 172 's , Willys etc hold their price , they all suffer from natural depreciation .
A car as an investment , hmmmmmmm :S
Theres probably only a very few cars that you could actually put money into as see as a long term investment , certain supercars .
The only car that was affordable to the masses and imo can actually appreciate in value would be something like a 30 year old unmolested VW Beatle in mint condition .
There are probably other makes of old cars that do appreciate in value i'm just using the Beatle as a good example , so no big lists of other cars , lol

of course an investment over a long period of time garaged and barely used depending on the model the williams has had its moment it now has to move aside for which is officially deemed by critics, mags, and car tycoons as the successer the much better more developed trophy any car has depreciation especially from showroom but its expected the trophy's value will hold higher and longer than the williams ever did due to there ltd run of 525

yep the 2 and 3 exclusively ruined all that was special about the original williams still willy 1 owners still preached about how there more valuable and better etc etc the ltd edn aspect means nothing now there are just too many, round my way alone there are four and i live in a small town

I don't think the trophies are holding their value any better than the regular 172/182's did. You get 6-12 month old examples with well under £10k miles for around £11-11.5k.
The ph1 172's are now pretty much bottoming oout in price now I reckon and will only drop with mileage and wear I reckon, so willy's aren't on their own either.
As a % of original value, the V6's don't depreciate as quick as people make out. Most 3 year old cars retain around 35-40% of their original value, which I'd say the V6's are. Otherwise we'd be looking at Mk2 Vees for nearer the £11-12k mark the mk1's are sitting at.

The only motors I know of that dont plummet in value are the Jag XJ's or a Land Rover Defender...

When the new beetle was coming out 8 years ago, I registered and spec'd up a car with all the kit. It cost me £1,500 deposit. I had no intention of buying it and a month before it was being delivered I sold it for £2,200 and got a nice £700 profit.
I was going to try it again with the Audi A4 Cabrio but then changed my mind.
Only once have i made money out of a car - and I never owned the thing!
