I've got one, you can view all sensor data and view/clear any fault codes. Got it so I could read the fault codes on my 172 when the throttle body was playing up, works with a lot of other cars as well.

You can have more functions with certain makes than others, you can't really do anything with renault but you can do a lot with most VAG cars.

For it the price its not a bad general tool got mine for £30.

KWP2000, is the base, with manufacturers implementing slightly different flavours of it (i.e. the VAG implementation is slightly different to Fiat's).

Other than being able to read DTCs, delete DTCs and read out some basic data, you will not be able to do anything else with a cheap diagnostic tool. There is no cheap diagnostic interface on the market (as far as I'm aware, and I am happy to be corrected) which allows you to gain access to the Renault ECUs in the same way as you can get access to the VAG ECUs, to tweak coding and adaptation, or even gain access to the useful stuff in the MWBs.

There are some tools available (exclusing CLIP) which can do these things, but you're talking thousands to buy them, and you have to know what they are in the first place.

Moral of the story, if you want to learn more about the diagnostics in ECUs / play with settings in ECUs, get a VAG car.

Ok thats kool!!! cheers!! If anyone else has had any experiences please say !!
Yep Renault CLip computer is the only decient thing out there (£5k+)

Yep your right nothing cheap is any good. Even the £3k snap on has loads of limitations.
