Dialogys Problems

ive had this installed before, but for some reason its not working now (fresh install of XP)

i cant install Acrobat Reader 4 or the Java Enviroment thats on the disk, cos when i try i get some message pop up, something about 16bit file system

the dialogys programme runs but wont open the parts database bit of it

anyone got any ideas how i could get those other 2 bits installed, it might work then

Sounds like you might have formatted the hard drive to 32 bit or something and there no way back then.

The Renault dialogues are so bad Renault dont use it on PCs only Macs (as thats what its designed to run on).

well yea, i did, XP on NTFS file system

does that mean i cant use it ! ??

No that wont be it as ive run dialogys on 3 ntfs formatted machines. The fact that adobe and java wont install means its got nowt to do with dialogys itself - can you put up the exact error you get about the 16bit FS and are you sure it isnt formatted as FAT by accident?

If the stuff wont display its probably because you havent installed the adobe and quicktime stuff that is required to display it.

and im 99% certain it isnt FAT, it was a brand new HDD and i let the XP installer format it

Had this error before... just need to copy the file from Windows/Repair back to the System 32 folder I think.

Have you installed any other 16bit apps that might have required editing the autoexec.nt file? Its where the command shell gets the setting from to run 16bit apps, generally the standard settings should work on most apps.

Copy the file AUTOEXEC.nt from the Windows/Repair directory to the system 32 folder.

Hopefully this will sort it!

Have to deal with this error on a daily basis.

not that i know of, my brother installed an online poker game, apart from that not much else has been put on the machine

well, parts bit still isnt openin but im sure i can sort it now i got those 2 bits installed

java, quicktime and adobe reader are needed so you might need one of them if youre missing any?

installed em all now Pete, rebooted and still wont open so im installin dialogys again

I never managed to get it working on any of my pcs, gave up in the end.

Pete, do you get the window thats there, but it never opens as such?

If so you need to install Quicktime, and goto custom installation, tick everything, thisll include "Quicktime for Java"

Noticed this when i ran the dialogys.bat file, and it said that one of the Quicktime class files wasnt able to run.

Not sure if installing the new Quicktime will work, I just installed Quicktime 5, that i found on an old versions website
