Digital camera Sony H9 any one got one

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
hi guys i'm going to get a new camera and ive seen the sony h9 and it looks pretty sweet, the online revied look promising, butthe owners review are umm sparse.

any one on her got one? if so is it any good. ive seena cracking deal oon one online and i have plenty of pro duos kicking about from my mobile and psp so the tiny 32mb internal memory doesnt bother me.

if not can any one recommend a good camera in the £250 range with a decent zoom ( 10x plus idealy)

cheers

I've got a DSC-H1 on which I've taken about 35k pictures ... so I'm definitely a fan of the Sony H range :).

The H9 has definitely got some super features. The lense means that it's very flexible, from panaromas (tho' obviously not stupidly wide), great macros, up to super telephoto shots (with a really nice bokeh). The H9 added a remote which is very useful. And the nightvision is very funky (especially given my love of exploring). Sony's tend to give nice vivid colours too.

I'd planned on buying a H9 when they came out, but have thus far stuck with my H1, because (1) my H1 is still working fine and (2) one change I didn't like on the H7/H9 was the removal of the jog wheel from the hand grip to be replaced by a wheel around the buttons the back which I find far more fiddly. However, a neighbour bought an H9 based on my love of my H1 and his very happy with his.

cool thanks for the advise . you can pick one up online for about £230 delivered! i think i'll get a black one as the silver ones look kinda tacky.

Not got experience with any bridge cameras hands on but the only other one worth looking at is probably the Canon S5 IS

H7 + H9 vs S5 IS

On paper the Canon has better AF points and Digic III with face detection (not exactly a deal breaker mind). It also has a hot shoe should you go a little crazy and strap a Canon speed light on for a laugh.

Ths sony has better audio, video and slghtly faster fps. etc...

Here's another good comparison, have a browse... at a glance the Canon has better high ISO images but the H7 does more in camera processing giving slightly sharper more colourful images.
