Dilema, for real now!

Car  Weeman sucks ****
65,000 miles is approaching quick. Gonna have the cambelt changed along with water pump (if needed), AUX belt etc when it's all in bits as soon as I can.

Question is, do I keep it or chop it in for another low mileage 172 cup. Don;t really want a different car and the test drives I've had don't make me grin like the little rattle box does. I'd swap my H&R's as they're the best thing since sliced bread. Personally think only an Integra type R or 160 sport elise would tickle my fancy at the moment and they're not easy to find (plus lotus have a wonderful reputation of being shite!)

I know there's issue with gear boxes etc that might crop up but the engine is running oh so sweet and very responsive now, it's great.

Decisions decisions??

All depends on how much you would get for yours. If it costs you 2k to get one with 15k on it then i would swop..

Kind of been there, best mate had one which I drove quite a bit. Lovely car but prefer the lotus, I'll be honest that's purely a looks issue. Tricky.

With the mileage, depreciation etc. Parkers says around 5k!

Im sure you would get 5.5k minimum.. add 2k

7.5k gets you a cup with 20k miles or less and maybe warrenty.....

True, a local dealer has 172 cup in so will go and check it out saturday. Trouble is my front bumper and bonnet show the age:S

i've got a cup due into my garage, 53 reg, blue, without climate, one 50 year old owner, 20,000 miles, gonna be on the pitch for £7999 ono ;)

Better the devil you know?

Sounds the best option, unless you can find an Elise, though both of those you've linked to seem a bit expensive. A basic S plate S1 should be about 9k.

Oh yeah, how dumb of me!! Oops!

Another reason for change is the bodywork. Suppose if I save not buying a new one I could pay for the touch up. Big stone hits on the front bumper and a couple of nasty hits on the bonnet, and a small crease!

I looked at elise and VX, but there not cars that are easy to sell with too many miles on the clock.

Can you not get the extended warently or is your car outside normal warently period now?
I'd check the values but you cna have the 72k done for a reasonable price but a £2k difference is good value so long as you get a good one.

I've always liked the elise. Depends on if you can find a mint one with a colour you like? and wether you can live with a small two seater?

i was thinking along these lines too, but mines done 15 thou less, i'm thinking maybe some engine work on mine.... as that 2k would get some good mods

think it depends on your car, you might not have had any major probs with yours..... but then a newer cup might be a 'friday' car.....

Yeah that is true gaz. I found out tonight my water pump is a bit knackered so that's gonna be sorted along with the Aux belt soon. Gonna leave the cambelt until 72k I think.

2k would cover paintwork and wheel refurbs (or track set).
