Ding on the door!!!

Went to a restaurant to celebrate my dads birthday with the rents, after the meal came back to find 2 little scratches on the drivers door below the door handle (like a little claw mark) each one about 5mm long... Someone blatantly hit their door into mine. im absolutely gutted.. the car is only about 3 weeks old.. whats the best thing to do? (appart from finding out who did it and cutting their balls off)

Sorry about that Gunner. My tip is to park miles away from other drivers! Maybe it will polish out, if not and it is miniscule, just touch it in with a permanent felt pen - even if it is silver you can get silver pens as well as black, red or blue.

PS. What are the "rents"?

That is a DREADFUL thing for anyone to do to any car, far less a new one. There are some BAD PEOPLE around your way Jim.

:eek::cry::mad:

GirlRacer : What did you mean by using a permenant felt pen? I take it you dont literally mean a felt tip pen! :p

permanent felt pen? Do you mean the scratch repair kit things?

Rents? I used to call my parents the "olds" - until I became a parent!!
No, I mean spirit based, permanent marker pens if the scratches are slight, as they sound in your case. If you put touch-up paint on tiny scratches it usually leaves a raised area which can be more noticeable, unless you apply it with a cocktail stick, a tiny bit at a time.

What colour is your car? Maybe you could rub in a little coloured polish.

Try chips Away (or Dent Devil), look on the net for your local one. These boys are the experts at hiding this sort of damage. However, if you want to do it yuorself, use touch up paint on a very small brush (not the one that comes with the paint), build up the layer in the scratch gradually until its proud of the existing paint, let it dry overnight then flatten down with a mild cutting paste such as T cut (or a good polish). Wrap the cloth over something like a matchbox whilst you do this which will ensure you cut it back flat to the panel. Dont rub too hard of you will damage the origional paint. Finish off with a good wax polich to remove all the small scratches. It is pssible to do a near seamless job like this if you are brave and V V careful - if not call Chips Away and for £50 odd quid you will get as good a job as is possible.

Sorry Gunner.

Mine was keyed after having it for 2 months all down one side cost £400 to have it repaired, I hate jealous and careless people. Use a cocktail stick and some cover-up paint. Mine was just before Christmas.

Thanks for the tips guys - I think ill try to patch it up myself with a cocktail stick and some paint. If it looks bodged ill get the pros in :)
