dirty diesel #2

so back in november i had an unfortunate occurrence which saw the end of my first dci 80 ):
thankfully nobody was hurt as i was on my own and the car also involved were traveling alone!

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-83.jpg

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-81.jpg

needing my car for work i diddnt have much time to look for the ideal example (black dci 100) but i found a dci 65 just up the road for a sensible price!

and so i became the owner of the second derv.
there were a few issues that needed addressing from the off:

rear bumper damage:
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-78.jpg

bad respray on rear quarter: (can just see the haze around the arch)
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-79.jpg

small rust patch:
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-80.jpg

overall it was fairly tidythough and it had just over 90000 on the clock.
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-77.jpg

so wasting no time at all i set about removing any of the parts i could off my old clio before i scrapped the rest of the car.

first off was the 182 cup wheels along with the sport interior and other little trims.
so within 2 days of having it (after a good deep clean)
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-73.jpg

i then set about getting a 172 rear bumper to replace the damaged one that was on it from the start
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-69.jpg

i love the change it makes, looks much neater than the standard ones.

for ages it stayed at that level before i finally put my plans into action which was to get it lowered and to get xenons again!
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-42.jpg

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg636/jmeekings/null-38.jpg

looks 100 times better for it IMO and it corners much better to! i haven't any pictures of it with the xenons fitted as there a recent purchase.

along its little journey it hit the big 100,000 barrier which for me islike a milestone for it, so i gave it a full service using a k&n panel filer, flush out about 3 times, mobil 1 super oil, new fuel/oil filters and some slick 50.

it might be just me, but i thought it sounded much smoother running with the fresh oil and slick 50.

went to my local clio meet on sunday which was a rolling road day. i went purely as a social with no intention of running my car because of its inferior power to the sports... however there was another lad running a dci 65 who was running his so i figured i may aswell see how much power it'd lost in the years its been running.

the other dci ran a 65.7bhp which was higher milage ect so we were all surprised at the result.

then it was my turn..
nervous that mine would be worse off i diddnt want to look at the results! to mine and most peoples surprise it put out a 72.5bhp run! not bad for a standard setup!
so im pretty damn pleased with that :)

my plans for the not so distant future are;

black meshed lower grill (dont fancy the full sport rep idea anymore)

yellow fogs

16mm hubcentric spacers allround

refurb the wheels in black

private number plate (its a secret)

and finally when its how i want it to look i will be fitting an intercooler and getting a remap :)

feedback and ideas welcome, sorry for the lenghty writeup but thats nearly getting on for a years woth of updates in one thread!

some more pics along my journey this year!

So this week I revived my tax rebate and figured I'd treat my car to some new goodies.. Nearly £1000 later and on the way to me is a private plate (pics to follow) 16mm rear spacers, 20mm front spacers, new mesh grill for my bumper, yellow fog tint and should be returning my wheels in the next couple of weeks! :)

One other purchase which a lot of people won't be interested in but the child in me can't help it is the purchase of my new JLw6v2 which for those of you that know car audio is one of the best subs on the market!

Can't wait for all my goodies to arrive so I can finally finish her off! :D

so heres the next instalment to the little dci's story, lots of goodies arrived at my house and as always the impatient child in me had to set about fitting all my new goodies at once,
so to the new changes are:

-20mm front spacers
-16mm rear spacers
-painted black wheels
-new mesh lower grill
-JL audio 10 inch W7 anniversary sub
just waiting on my private plates to be transferred!!
soo a few more piccies to add!

This looks great. Love the 182 wheels. I have a mk1 TT rear view mirror to go on mine but original clio ones base is bonded to the wind screen so if you have any advice on doing it I'd be very interested

Soo another small update as I wait for some little trimmings to finish up for now

Nice foggy drive home from work on Thursday,

FINALLY the DVLA managed to get my reg transferred after an angry phonecall over the time,
I love it and the little it cost me I couldn't ask for more!

Just waiting for the funding to get my re map and a new steering wheel, that's basically the end of the project for now other than enjoying it! :)

So a small update, bought and fitted a laguna splitter, looks soo much better looking than standard, also gives a little more lows! :)

In the post is a cup spoiler which I'm hoping the royal fail will get to me tomorrow with a but of luck! Funding is set for my remap just need to get the time to make the drive up north for it!

And lastly still waiting to find a new steering wheel but there all mangled that I've seen ):

Pics will be up soon! :D

Right so the last post I had about getting a spoiler over 2 weeks ago finally arrived yesterday after 3 attempts with different couriers! Have not been a happy bunny waiting! But fitted now along with my Laguna splitter gaining a but more fake lows!

In other news I've grabbed myself a steal of a deal! Got a mint looking sport wheel with carbon thumb grips not the usual FUBARD ones! Hopefully be here for the weekend so that the East Anglian clio meet can help me fit it haha!

Also go some dodo juice and poor boys black haze and gave her a winter wash and wax to protect and keep shiny over the coming months!

If I go down the route of a decat, and loose the back box, add an intercooler I'm told the 65 can push upwards oh 90bhp, which though still a small amount of power I'm after a bit more mid range power than anything

Soo my steering wheel turned up on Saturday and was kindly fitted by a lad at our local clio meet the other day, I love it, much better looking and more comfy to use too!

Looking into some sideskirts now as I feel it will finish the exterior off nicely, then it's down to performance...

Not sure wether to get a custom exhaust made or just get a performance one off a 1.2? Any ideas if there's much difference?

Then intercooler and off to the derv doctor for a mapping! :) soo close to finally finishing it! Really pleased with the change it's had from just under a year ago! :)

Comments and criticism welcomed!

We can't get a turbo chirp :( only the VNT turbo on the 100 does that.

i would go mani back, 2.5'',3'' decat and straight through all the way to the back. Rolled outward exhaust tip would look smart ;)

Nooo! ): that's depressed me! :L will star phoning about for quotes ;) also I need to sort out my front camber, is there specific ones I need?or are all the ph2 the same? I know the bolt spacing for coilovers is different on the dci? Though I have no ideas what that is either haha!

Camber bolts 12mm I think. I know I went for the biggest size for a non sport and they didn't fit :(

guessing yours is is possitive camber now? Mine did this from lowering it -.-

So today is the first installment of things getting more exciting! Ordered my intercooler kit and am now in talks with the derv doctor for my remap, he has a kangoo dci 65 that he intercooled and mapped and that's pushing just over 100bhp! So I'm excited for this now!

Exhaust has been put off by the fact the cost is redicilous for the minimal gains that will be returned, so maybe, just maybe ill have it mapped by the end of the month? :D

  Derv 65, MPG > BHP
Permit me to ask a few tard questions: do diesels even need cats for the MOT and will they be arses about it? And what will the differences in economy, performance and engine note be? My 65 could use a kick in the ass, an engine flush just doesn't sound good enough for me!

By the way, shiggles... I might just have to nick that ;)

Nope Dosent even need to look like it has a cat on it, they don't check the emissions on dervs like they do petrols. So long as it's not chucking out plooms of smoke :) decat will achieve faster spooling of the turbo from what I'm aware as will taking the back box off in exchange for a bit of pipe! Less back pressure. Not sure of mpg gains to it but it will pick up quicker! :)

Also if your after some gains then a k&n high flow panel filter will help and as I have done drain old oil, flush out a couple times to clean it then some slick 50 with some good oil. Stuff really works, my oil stayed golden for over 1000 miles of heavy right footed driving :) not bad for a derv!

I knew the emissions thing was different, just didn't know if a cat had to be there for the sake of the MOT. Now to ask the f**ker, what's the best way to remove it and what sort of pipe and fixing will be needed?

I did a guide to removing the dci decat.

drivers side drive shaft out. all cat bolts off and drop through the arch.

you'll need a custom pipe made as its all funny angles and the cat kneck is very restrictive.

So with my 19th up and coming people wanted to know what they could get me, so after much thought I've now gone and arranged to collect a sport kit (the bits left I need) so my car will be a full rep by the end of the month hopefully :) intercooler is waiting to be fitted and once all that's done my remap will be booked! Exciting times ahead! :D

Soo BIG news for me! :) got my sport kit after a lengthy 10hrs of driving and got AlexW to fit it for me! Top lad, wouldn't have got it all gone in a day without him :) so before my birthday my car
Looked like this

Then to my complete surprise the misses had arranged for a friend to come get my car while we were at dinner and I come back to these fitted!

So I was truly spoilt for my birthday :D

In other news, went to fit my intercooler the other day but renparts have supplied me with a radiator with broken mounts and no fittings to mount it with either... So I'm currently waiting on them to source me the correct working parts before I can get that fitted in the hope that early January will be the time of the remap! Cars come a long way in just over the year that I've owned it! Still puts a smile on my face everything I see it!

It only comes on now and then, and if I depress the clutch so it drops to idle the light goes out for a wile... Really odd! But it's only since fitting the intercooler it's doing it! So it's somthing I've touched no doubt haha! And the seats are autostyle, cheap brand but very comfy :) and I'll let you know dan ;) who knows what I'll get suckered into!
