Disappointment when making space for CAF

  Golf GTD Mk7
Took the bumper off today to change a fog, so thought while i was there to remove a few bits.

Removed the headlight to get better access to the acoustic valve. (miles easier than through the wheel arch). I also moved the horn out of the way a bit also, so you can now see straight down to the bottom of the arch liner.

Was chuffed at the time because i'm looking at running a large CAF down there, but when i refitted the light I was gutted. Stupid lights take up tooooo much room. Really tight and the standard pipe struggles to fit down. As you can see i could push the horn over a bit more, but not enough to make a difference really. Guess it's moving on to plan B :S.

My mate has a phase 1 airbox in behind his front bumper.

Awesome mod and I will photo it soon to show. :)

two 70 mm feeds can be fitted down there without too much trouble. This was my setup before the V6 Box. A 100mm feed (for the V6 box) however will NOT fit

^^ the horn is a two piece thing that when you rotate the one part (one of the two-tone horns) towards he other one you will have more space already. No need to relocate the thing.

As sais ; the headlight will be the biggest getintheway. Cup headlight being non-xenon will leave enough space for two big ol' fat 70mm feeds

surely he will be losing torque if he has a straight pipe running from the TB to the box behind the bumper as thats a rather long inlet tract

No Idea. Its f**king fast though. Fastest standard (ish) 172 i've ever driven by a country mile.

He goes past me on the dual carriageway at a stupid pace.

A benefit to owning a cup...clio sport will NEVER believe it!

^^ ehh , what is/was its purpose ?! Never seen anything like this under my bonnet

If you remove the engine mount, look in the hole and there is a nut which holds on the weight. If you've got a FF 182 you'll need to remove the bumper and headlight to get it out (aircon gets in the way). It supposed to be for vibration reduction, but people who have removed it say it's not made much difference at all really.
