I picked up my new clio last week. I want to change the head unit but Im realy confused cos Ive been told so many different things!
One place said that I could change the head unit, but I would loose the steering wheel controls and the display, another guy told me that I could keep the steering wheel controls if I had a sony headunit but Id loose the display, then somebody else sed that I could keep the steering wheel controls and the display!

Can anybody tell me what you can actually keep?

Check out the FAQ, Ive installed a Sony MD and bought a connect2uk adapter, this allowed me to keep both the display and stalk controls.

sonys all have adapters for stalk and displays, other makes r more difficult to find. I have a sony and love it.

alpine hus let you keep the stalk controlls, but not the display.

I was told by a shop in town that those adapters dont work on 2003 clios. When you say that you keep the display, does that mean the radio station is still displayed, or is it just the temp and time?

Kenwood do an adaptor 4 their head units as well. Most will leave you with temp. and time.

so the adapter will not let you see the station/other things from your head unit., just time.

I have changed my head unit but used no adapter and the time temp still works?

some adapters do the stalk some the display. Some do both. If u have the display it aint really that gr8, but when u put cds in with id3 tags the title of the track somes up in the hud. Else it will just display a track number. I have one which does both and i could easily have lived without the display working. The stalk works a treat and wouldnt have wanted to lose it. There u go.

Kenwood display leads very rare, normally stalk only

Blaupunkt display, and stalk leads avalible

Sony, display and stalk leads avalible

Tom, just to be a right pain in the arse, which one has the adapter that you have to take the dash apart to fit?

just want the stalk control back. the display is crap anyway. also the adapters vary massively in price... £30 just for the stalk and ~£70for display and stalk.

the sony connect2 adaper does not require u to take dash offf
