Can anyone tell me what happens to the display when you change the head unit?

does it automatically revert to the time and temp? or do you need this interface i hear so much about?

The display looks like what it does when you turn the stereo off eg time and temp. For some head units you can get an interface to keep using the other part as well eg where it says which radio station you are listerning to!

as far as im aware

only sony offer and interface to keep the existing stereo display, not sure on pt nos though

not sure on the wiring for pioneer units but i believe that it is the hard wired adaptor that you require

cheers people,

i just rang pioneer and theyre going to let me know which one i need exactly, and for the various models etc and suppliers, if anyone wants to know what one they need etc let me know.

Kenwood do the cable for connecting the HU to the display, but it depends on what model HU you have, and I guess on the age of your car...

The part number is PC9-712. On my MkII when the original unit was taken out, I was only left with the time, and not the temp... The link below shows what the cable works with, but gives different results for each car and HU...

Hope thats helpful, I guess it only is if you want to use a Kenwood...
