Do I have a leg to stand on?

  Integra Type-R DC2
Just had a letter through the post today telling me I owe me insurance company £205. I phoned up and asked why and apparently when I changed my occupation about 6 months ago, my premium initially went up stupid amounts because the bint on the phone put me down as a labourer. When I got a letter telling my my premium was going to be £1500 I protested and had it changed to telecoms engineer. It went down below my initial premium and I was refunded the difference (like £12). Now from what I understand, the company I go through (Adrian Flux) use another company, Premium Credit Limited, to actually insure me. Flux is not much more than a middle man. Whats happend is Flux gave me the refund, but for some reason Premium Credit limited didnt know this or that my premium had infact gone down, and thus havent actually been getting paid what theyre owed. So now, because Flux is s**t, im having to pay for about 5 months worth of insurance at once. Atleast thats what I understand to be the case, the girl on the phone didnt really sound to sure about what she was talking about anyway, so this could be (probably is) a load of b****cks.

Either way, I feel im being ripped off here and im having to pay for Flux's mistake. What can I do?

Really haven't got a clue mate, is there a regulating body for insurance, or the FSA may help but I'm not sure if they cover this

it seems a little confusing but, if Flux have arranged everything, you've been paying them and they've been responsible for seeing the insurer right, surely they're liable?

i'd call Flux and speak with a manager. you'll not be able to complain to any governing body until you've exhausted your options with the broker/insurer

ed. thinking on, if you've not been paying anyone, ask if you can pay the outstandings in the form of an increase to your monthly repayments for the remainder of the term

Had a chat with someone in insurance on your behalf. Adrian Flux being the broker is your representative. Your dealings should be with Adrian Flux, not the actual insurers. The first thing you need to do is ask for clarification in writing from Adrian Flux as to why this problem has occured.

I've had very similar. Basically you have taken out a credit agreement with the finance company. This should have been cancelled and a new agreement made as they normally can't adjust them (shite format of the type of loan). Fluxs fault, they get paid by the finance company so they've pocketed the money, they owe it to the finace company. Technically you signed the agreement so it's down to you to get it out of flux though

Cheers guys. Should of mentioned earlier, I realised a few months back that they hadnt been taking my monthly payments. Obviously phoned Flux and asked why, and I was assured that it was becasue id paid all my premium. Obviously this is the money theyre now chasing up. I dont think theres any way of getting out of paying the money as technically, I do owe it though its not my fault. Renewals on the 27th and I want to buy a 182 in march, so theres no point in asking to add the outstanding money onto my next payments as ill just cancelling the policy in 3 months. Looks like im just going to have to bite the bullet and pay it. :(

As above, Premium Credit is not your insurer. They're the finance company they use to collect your payments and it should have all been adjusted at their end, i.e Flux should inform Premium Credit of any changes to your payments. It's not your fault however I think you still owe the money and theyre gonna want it one way or another
