Do Renault make their service prices up?

  Titanium Clio 182
My car was in on the 1st December for the 24k service. They told me it was major and it cost me £300. I then came on here and found out it was a minor so i went down and they knocked £50 off it but they still insisted they were right.

Mt brother with the same car and the same service (24k) got his done for £189. Everything on the service is exactly the same price except for the 24k service bit.

They are both Clio 182s.

What car do you have?

  MINI JCW
Agree, I rang three different Renault dealers for a price on some oil (the same oil) and I was given three different prices! £22.50, £23.50 and £31

When I got there the oil was out on display and I was the only one in the que but it still took tem mins to serve me as the oil wasnt on the system!

Some of the employees who work for Renault are muppets!

why have you had it services at 18K then?

the 24K is EXACTLY the same as the 12k its a minor one, take your service book in to prove it. Only difference may be your pads might be worn out so they will need changing.

Liam, did you use Nicholas Smiths in Skipton earlier in year?

You used them?

  Saphire Cosworth
for what it's worth my 24k service cost me £200.00
They told me that the 36k means the aux drive belt needs doing so it'll be closer to £500. Out of warranty now so not paying that gonna do it myself !!

Always play one off against the other!!

When I had my 172 I was qouted £250 for my 12k service by the renault garage I bought the car off! My local renault garage qouted me £225.00 and I ended up getting the same service carried out by a small renault garage 40 miles away for £100.80 !!!!!

The service there was very relaxed and friendly - what you would call customer service!!

  No more clio's for me!
My Cambelt, Timing belt and aux belt are up for a change, not even gonna waste my time ringing a main dealer for a price including a service. Therefore a mate of mine who run's his own place is gonna do the lot for 350ish quid! (depending on labour) :)

^^^Cambelt and timing belt are the same thing mate. Make your mate knows his stuff about your engine (assume 172 from your name) as the aren't an easy job and if it goes wrong it could cost you in the long run. Just something to think about.

 What i know about engines i could write on the back of a postage stamp!! Wonder why he gave me a funny look when i asked him! LOL. Oh well, i am learning.....very slowly!:)
