Do these spacers look right?

System a is bad.

You need to do a bit of research behind the different types.

The ones to go for are the ones that bolt to the hub, then the wheel bolts to the spacer.

Why are they bad?

Edit: They're not bad FYI, takes maybe 10 seconds extra to put the wheel back on, and it's not like you would normally be taking wheels on and off that often.

as long as they are hub-centric (good fit on the middle of the wheel to ensure its all on centre) then they should be fine.

the ones you have linked to require longer wheel bolts, as they have to go the extra distance of the spacer.

the ones Rob said about have 2 sets of bolts - i cant see an advantage to this other than being neater and not falling off when you take the wheel off.

also worth looking at materials - aluminium alloy are not as strong as mild steel (galvanised).

Cheers. Also looked at the H&R ones from Venom motorsport they seem to recommend them quite highly as they are galvanised, slightly cheaper at £90. Still expensive though lol

yeh, they are are always expensive. they have to be machined quite accurately.

the greater the accuracy, the more it costs to produce.

Still a pain though ha ha. Will have a nose around and see whats about. But to be fair they all seem to sell them around that price.

Hubcentric spacers need to be atleast 13mm in width or they will not sit flush on your hub. I'd go for the H&R ones.

Yeah the H&R's seem to get good reviews. Just need to find the cheapest place to get them from. Venom seem to be the best so far

They were 20mm mate :).

The only problem I had, was the standard bolts needed a tiny bit taking off of the end, because they would foul the hub.

Basically the bolt was longer than the spacer is wide, and wouldn't do up fully, so the end of the bolt needed a little bit taking off. Simple, and easy!

Spent all yesterday reading that, very nice work. Apart from your seemingly bottomless budget the spacers, brakes and arb are what I'm looking to do to mine currently. Not quite as fanatical about cleaning it as you are but having had a MKII Golf I showed for a few years the cleaning bit I am glad to leave alone (7 hours before a show and then 3 hours at the show).

No longer own the car, but they were 20mm yeah.

The rears were done as well, 7mm IIRC.
