Does my mk2 ph1 only need a service when the service light comes on

Just wondering do i need to get a service only when the service light comes on ?

Service light comes on when something is wrong, not when you need a service, when was it last serviced?

i would recommend an oil and filter change every 6 months at least.

No lights have come on.

It been around a year and i just thought is it time for a service and then thought about the service light if it comes on then doe sit mean its time.

I will check later for how many miles ive done since last service.

Whats the average mileage before having another service.

Not the service light is not a service indicator, it only comes on with another orange light to signal a fault.

If its been a year then it at LEAST wants and oil+filter change.

Is this normal or is it just me, just checked the service history and noticed something.

I bought the car around october/november last year and the mileage was 108,000 its now 113,00 since i have driven it but i just checked the last service it had which was july 06 and the recorded mileage was 54,000

Can you drive around 54,000 miles in around 3-4 months ? :S

something can't be right there, should have had a few more services to if it done 54k in that time.

I know just before i bought it new white dials went in so can that be it ?
