Dog bone mount

Car  S4 (320bhp) + Clio 16v

Think its time to change it.

How hard / easy is it to do or shall i get the garage to do it while im getting the gearbox done??

Also is there any comon places that oil leeks in the valver engine. my engine in on 100k and lately noticed that there is a bit of oil building up towards the bk right of the engine. any ideas where it could be coming from??

Cheers tom-m

I have movement in the gearstick too...

If I come on and off of the loud pedal in a gear I get a thud...

Im assuming this is the dogbone? am I right?

Yer i no that the engine and gearstick in anycar is going to have a bit of play but mine just seems a little to much! Thought i might give it a go myself as ive heard its a 10min job!!!

i have play in my gearstick and had a new dog bone about 1000miles back

didnt really sort the problem!

I looked in my Haines manual and it says that you can remove that mount without having to readjust the others. It should just come out when undone and a new one slide straight in... (with a little bit of wiggling)

I have an RSi Phase III but it should be the same!

oh right. will just get the garage to do it i think. while its in there it aint going to take them long!

yep it is a 10 minute job mate, i didt it on my rt. i replaced mine cos i had the judder when backing off and braking, but it didnt solve the problem so im gunna replace the driver side mount as im pretty sure this is casing it.

it sorted mine out! but mines gone again after a couple of full throttle changes lol! pops out of 2nd now, iv had a look and its f**ked! lasted 6000 miles!

Judder when backing off?!

I thought this was commonly a symptom of driveshaft damage/wear!
