ibiza cupra
im sure some of the midlands crew that have seen donnys car, noticed that the paint was flakeing off his car like crazy and his front bumper looked like some one had been practising their artexing skills on it (no offence donny lol). so when he came to me, i was only to happy to get it sorted for him in time for the breakfast club meet. and i must say (head getting bigger) that i am quite proud of the end results. here are the pics.
bumper before
after a lot of sweat and flatting.
sanded edges of hole to help prevent filler sinking.
first skim of filler
and whilst that was going off i started on the car.
this is what happens when you use crap laquer
didnt have to flat any of it off as it all blew off with an air line but the base coat stayed on so it wasnt down to bad prep.
back to the bumper
second skim of filler
and also one for the bonnet (dont push on them to close, just let them drop from about 6 - 8")
now filler is flatted
time for primer
then let dry before de masking
you would never know there was a hole there would you
bit of guide coat
primer after a 500 flat, 800 flat and a 2000 flat
bonnet after a good blocking
followed by 800 and 2000 again
wing also had flakey laquer too so also needed a bit of attention
masked and ready for the booth
al giving it a good panel wipe and tack off
then time for the fun bit
al is a s**thot painter.
whilst it was bakeing i got donnys cup splitter repaired. the end had been snapped off and glued to the bottom of the bumper (which was still on when i stripped the rest of the splitter off lol) so i got a chap at work to use some profesional high grade bonding (as they are made from a brittle rubber so cant be plastic welded) to put it back together before refinishing it off with some plastic texture paint.
you cant see it now but the end 2 or 3" were snapped off so the guy has done a great job with it.
anyway back to the car, time for a mop and polish
mask up to keep clean
then out with the 1500
followed by some 2000 then some 3000
then out with the cutting compound.
half done
now to stick it all back together
now for a good waxing to seal in the finish
and there we are. no more artex lol
sorry bout crap phone pics
