door trim side strips respray

any idea how to get the black plastic sides strips off, dont wanna pull too hard just incase the door comes off or something, lol, just please, somebody help me!!

just pull it hard towards the door opening...its scary as you think your gonna break it but it just needs some gentle persuesion
