Download Speeds....

Whats a good download speed for 8mb??

Currently getting around 285kbs, no idea if thats good or not??! lol!

There are a lot of factors involved but the most common cause of low speed is actually the source of the file. As a test; if you download a file from a UK microsoft server you will probably reach your connections potential.

You should expect more than 800KB/s (the theoretical speed of an 8Mbit line is around 976KB/s)

Uk johnny i think you mean 8000kbps thats not the same as Kilobytes per second.

nobody will get 8mb on an adsl 8mb service, thats the maximum you could get if you lived inside the bt exchange.

you can find your sync speed by checking your router, or by going to one of those sites that checks your speed, but you will very unlikely be getting 8mb, i get 4 and I am 1 mile from exchange but it depends on so many factors.
