drivers side window not working, list please

can anyone give me a list of what to check to eliminate the problem, also how to check each thing, its not the switch as i bought a new one and it still doesnt work, also i can hear it clicking when i press the button, any ideas?

dodgy motor connections i'd guess

you need to get the door card off to get to them

how do i check the motor connections mate? just unplug everything then plug back in, is that behind the skin on the door, i had it off before but couldnt work it out, cable hasnt snapped so ??

Had this on mine took the door panel off, held the window switch down and hit the window motor with a rubber hammer quite hard and started working again been fine ever since. Think the motor had got seized and just needed to be brought back to life. Worth a try before forking out any cash. Same problem on my g/friends golf did the same think and been fine ever since.

^LOL sounds like a bash fixes everything, window motors, MK1 solarnoids, if in doubt - Whack it!

yeah, apologies to anyone i offended, just got a new regulator and it still didnt work, took my anger out on here and got it deleted, so sorry guy's, just spent short of a hundred quid because i know sod all about cars and took everyones advice as being definit, again sorry

mine did this it went down but wudnt go bk up or stop workin completely mine was a dodgy plug sumwhere my bros work sed. i fink the drivers if thats n e help

well it turns out i'm not getting 12volts at the motor, so maybe a break in the wire, anyone know how to check if a wire is broke, or if i can take a wire from somewhere else to feed the motor,
