Driveshaft help needed

Basically my ABS has gone in my front o/s wheel, with the target and sensor being knackered, but the target is on the driveshaft, so the whole driveshaft needs replacing. Got a quote from Renault at £327 fitted, with parts being about £180 of that. One trip to Euro Car Parts later and parts are only £100 with a mate being able to do the labour for some beer!

The problem is there are 2 driveshafts available for my car....one with 26 teeth and one with 44 teeth. I spoke to Renault and the only way they can find out which one it is is by taking the driveshaft out and opening it up etc.

Firstly, does anyone have any idea if there is a common one on a 2003 !.2 16v Clio (i.e. 95% are 26 teeth).

If not, does anyone know how easy it is to take the driveshaft out and look?

i just bought the abs ring on its on for 25 pounds from euro car parts when it when on my rsi.

Read it properly mate, the target has gone too, not just the sensor.

Just look at the other side wheel easy enought o count the teeth plus if you get over 26 teeth then yu have the one with more.

Renault will know for definate

most like its 44 teeth im sure they all are.

get a renault one ross if you can, i had the same problem with mine, my drivers side went, had a pattern part put on, now get a reverberation at 5k through the shaft as its not balanced. spend the extra and you wont have to worry about it. keep meaning to get mine replaced for a renault one.

and as edde said, check the other side, you dont need to open up anything, the ring is there as plain as day.

I got knew ABS rings for 10pound each dead easy to do i got for me 2001 1.2 26teeth for mine 1.4s are 44teeth
