Dual Monitors...

  Megane DCi 147bhp/350nwm
This may well be the most stupid question ever asked BUT...

Is it possible from 1 VGA out put to connect 2 monitors...

I know it more than likely isn't but i'm not sure why it isn't

Can someone shine some light on my stupidity please as i've never though about this before.

It is only carrying a signal..

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Two ways of doing it, a Y-splitter as has been mentioned above will give you two monitors displaying the same thing, or alternatively you can get a Matrox DualHead2Go box for a little over a ton IIRC and that'll split the signal so you can run one desktop spanning two screens.

So why does everyone care so much about having a graphics card that has a dual monitor inputs?

Would it not be a hell of a lot cheaper to but a "vga splitter"

________

Is DVi better quality also...

Would have a VGA input going to a DVi input on a monitor be better quality then just going VGA to VGA ? Vice versa..

because vga splitter makes the same thing appear on both screens,

whereas dual output graphics card spits the desktop over two so you can do different things on each screen...

People say DVI is better.... But I disagree. It just allows the resolution ceiling to be lifted a bit further, as VGA was limited (albeit to a resolution most monitors still can't display).
