DVDs To iTunes

Wanting to put a lot of my DVDs on my Macbook Pro and into my iTunes library.

Thing is i have no idea how to copy the DVD and how to get it into my iTunes library.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction ?

RipIt to rip the DVD to the Mac then Handbrake to convert to Apple TV 3 format.

I tried Handbrake on its own to rip and convert but it never worked. My method above has so far had a 100% success rate.
