Should I put this on the metal in the door closest to the inside of the car or closest to the outside? I know ideally it would be both, but what will prevent vibrations best?

  "Navy" N17 TWO
Put it on both (inner & outer) "skins" of the door :)

You dont have to put massive sheets on at a time, do it in a criss-cross or honeycomb effect. This ensures better coverage of the door thus covering more area with the amount of DE you get in a pack.

Little off-cuts in odd-spots help to kill vibrations and padding loose bits inside the door too - we all know how pleasent our little Renaults are to go for a quiet drive
