Dynamatting a Mk1 Ph3

My boot absolutely rattles to hell. It seems that this is the main problem on the car. The doors etc all dont vibrate too much.

I was wondering how I can go about dynamatting the boot. An estimate of costs and if there are any shortcuts etc.

Thanks in advance:

MattyK

Firstly why do you wanna dynamat the boot, it rattles? where it it rattling? does it rattle when the bass is turned up? do you have a sub or 6x9s?

If i was gonna do it i woudl do the whole of the floor the wheel arches and up the sides and the boot lid, and possibly the undertside of the parcel shelf

yeah i need to do the bootlid, ran out of dynamat, and it aint cheap! ive wedged some foam under the plactic cover that clips on the underside of the boot lid, that helped a bit.

It is mainly my boot lid that vibrates. I have both 6x9s and a sub. It is the sub that does it. About how much am I looking at for dynamatting the bootlid?

go to homebase get a big role of ali flashing tape, its a think layer of ali with tar on the bottom (same as brown bread, do 3 layers of this on the floor, and 2 layers on either side, take the platic cover off of the boot lid, and get expanding foam with a long nozzle and spray it up either side of the lid, only do a small bit at a time as it will gush everywhere, box off the lock etc with cardboard and fill the rest of the boot with the foam, when dry shave and cut it as neat as possible, put some door draft excluder sticky foam stuff around the edge of the plastic part and put it back on, that will solve any boot rattles in the boot, but u will have to chase them round the rest of the car....
