Eagle F1’s in the snow

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

Scary !!!!

Tried getting up a hill and would not go, had to let a bit of air out although on 31 for high speed driving so probably needed it.

Just wheelspan everywhere and drifted to the left even though I was on full lock to the right. Took me an hour to drive four miles in this lovely weather. And then the gritters came out !!!!!!!!

hmmm....so do I buy them for my cup....

(although i guess its not exactly a regular thing is it this snow!!)

all summer tyres are sh*te in the snow, i would never base my decision on snow performance.......

LOL it took me an hour to drive 1 mile today in the golf, was in a queue of traffic on a steep hill with handbrake on and car slid into car in front!

Despite the best efforst of my left foot and copious ABS engagement.

No damage though to me or other driver and to be fair to the lad he took it really well!

  Audi TT Stronic

Hate to say it but all tires are crap in the wet, and having wider tiders is bad news..

Unless you fit snow chains or in the case of the 172 snow tyres you aint gonna be getting any grip.

All sports tyres are mailto:w@nk">w@nk in the snow...

The S-02s on my 306 Rallye were lethal though!!!

Have S02s on rear and think they may be better than teh F1 as they have more of a usual tread pattern. F1 being a slick with grooves cut into it makes it a full on slick when those grooves get packed with snow.

195s dont help either. Looking forward to tomorrow already

If anyone lives in High Wycombe they will know how difficult it was for me to get home from work tonight, took 5 1/2 hours as WYcombe is all very steep hills and there were no gritters out (typical), had to abandon my car about 1 mile from my house, I too am not looking forward to tomorrow (thats if I get up before lunch!) My Megane was all over the place!

i have my 172 running contis at 22psi at front and 20psi at back and boot full of builders sand in a big plastic tub and filled with bricks on top as ballast and it has held the road really well in the snow...went along a country road where the spindrift snow was blowing off the fields and was 5"- 6" deep, temp was -2 and i went past vauxhall tigra and bmw which were both stuck

I learned this lesson last year...lastear i took the tyres down to 18psi.

that really is very low tyre pressure mate, especially with all that stuff in there...........avoid potholes like the plague, at that pressure you will f**k up a rim if you hit anythin at any speed

  not a clio anymore

Left High Wycombe in the middle of the blizzard. (5 minutes after start, at least 2 inches of snow). Hardly anyone on the road but the guy in front of me span getting out of the car park, then a guy in a toyota supra was trainging for his drifting competition (he didnt manage to get the car in a straight line) and finally I got a 3 series braking then accelerating lighly to end up accross the road. The sports tyres may be crap, but at least a front wheel drive gets you further than a rear one.

Hehe I went to drop my missus into work (got F1s)

I live on a very slight inclination! Off we go spinning up the road took ages to get grip.

Old man nearly walloped his beemer into a wall turning into the trading estate! was going fast but ass end just went! hehehe waqs funny

You wanna try driving a DCI 80 with 138lbft of torque at about 2000-2250rpm with 195.50s on.

Didnt think Id get out of my car park at home (its on a slope). Had to roll back on the bit where Id parked (no snow) and then gun it and hope momentum got me over the crest, but not too fast that I hit me house and me new valver!

Skinny tyres are best by far in this weather.

I went down this road because i thought its a short cut... big mistake, the road was literally an ice rink! As i got further down the road there was a ka who had obviously 360d into a wall and done a lot of damage.. at first i thought it was just a very badly parked car!
