Some clown thought it would be funny to egg my car. :dapprove:

So went down to the local power wash at the BP and ordered "Number 3", something along the lines of hot rinse, hot shampoo and rise off.

Now i still have this disgusting film on the car and all these bits, and i even washed the car by hand before i went down to the jet wash.

Any ideas on what would clean this crap right off?

Also the inside of the car smells of raw egg too, any idea on this? Ive added around 10 air freshners and have to have the window down to drive.

tbh unlikely you'll get it out completely, you can give it a wetflat to fade it but it will still be visible

ive seen eggs on loads of cars, they embed into the laquer, cant be removed.

dont believe me if you dont want to but its true im affraid :\

Clay wont touch it - as said many times clay is for above the surface defects - bonded on marks etc, not damage in the paint/clearcoat. It is also not the best action for the residue.

A good wash with some Strong shampoo or Megs APC and polish will remove the residue.


As FM has said above above - the damage it normally leaves is the problem which in most need repainting, the shell for some reason causes lots of very deep small pit marks right to the primer in most cases. Even a wet flat won't sort it.

Sound like they cracked one in your vents as someone described in general chart the other day too ?

The vents are hard to be accessed from the mark 1 due to it being covered by most of the bonnet, most likely when i cleaned the car it has ran into the vents and down the sills of the car. Maybe ill have to just full clean the car and doors and sills at the weekend. Even if its wet ill clean the car as i dont want this pish on the car.

Rich what would be the best plan of action to remove the residue (i have been very careful not to scratch the paintwork as i removed every small bit of egg shell with my fingers to avoid scratching anything, its got these small bumps in the paintwork now where the egg has been left at the paintwork.

Pre Soak with Meguiars All Purpose cleaner and AG Engine and Machine Cleaner Strong wash with some Car Shampoo and polish with SRP.

Egg is crap to get off anything...and you probably just half cooked it by sticking
it in a hot wash, Maybe washing up liquid would get it off..and I dont think it would hurt just once.

Unlucky m8, i was dreadin some nob end doing this to my/familys cars, i've seen first hand myself on a friends car that got egg'd, after countlass products it ended up at the body shop ... little w*****s, they have no idea how much time & effort ppl put into buying/looking after there cars... unfortunatley for us as long as the council keep giving hand outs for these lazy pricks the'll keep finding ways of keeping them selves amussed.. at our expense!!

Managed to clean all the egg off the car today.

Took me a initial clay of around 50 minutes for a full car clay. Some stubborn parts on the car took a while to be removed but came off no problem.

Then checked the paint and no marks as yet. Then washed the car and dried with leather shammy. Waxed with Microfibers and polished off with microfiber.

Looks great now.

To be fair I remember throwing eggs at cars (and other things) when I was younger. At the time it just seems funny, and don't really realise that its at someone elses expense. I feel like a bit of a c**k now though as I realise how annoying it is...I don't think people realise what a b**ch egg is to get off though to be fair!

if its just egg residue ure lucky.. most have the bulls eye shell splintered white pattern which can only get removed professionally
